Alan BoardmanLaughing Gnome

 Alan Boardman

Over the years I have had several occasions to be very grateful for the NHS, nothing serious fortunately. So my name must have popped over the parapet and I was invited to be a lay reader for patient information leaflets.  Accordingly I was on the mailing list for the WWL Trust members magazines.

Summer 2013 I spotted a request for volunteers for Wrightington Hospital Radio and saw this as a great opportunity to indulge my love of popular music with giving something back to the hospital service. Another of my passions is local amateur dramatics so, although I cannot see my audience, my prime aim is to entertain others. Twelve months later here I am, thoroughly enjoying presenting and visiting some of the patients at Wrightington.

Me, a presenter at   Wrightington Hospital Radio!
I spotted an article in the Hospital Trust WWL magazine about Hospital Radio. So I asked for a look around the studio. That's all I wanted, but hey I'm hooked. I am a committee member and presenter.
My programme eases you into the morning ...  it is Nice and Easy Listening.
Being part of hospital radio has opened the door to other opportunities for me, including working with local authors, with a view to putting a series of books onto audio CD's for the blind and visually impaired, and also working with the media department at a local college.
